Wesley Heights
This quaint neighborhood was originally formed in the 1920’s.
The homes were Craftsman, Bungalow and Colonial Revival style
of frame and brick. Originally developed on the nineteenth century
farm of livery stable owner John Wadsworth. This neighborhood
bordering Uptown to the Northwest, was close to two Trolley lines
and provided easy access to the Uptown. Today this community is
experiencing a rebirth as housing in the center city is ballooning
in price, people are moving into this community and refurbishing
homes. Wesley Heights now sits between the Gateway portion of
Uptown (including Johnson & Wales University) and Johnson
C Smith University. For many, it is a short walk or bicycle ride
into the center city to work each day.
