Lake Park
Lake Park is a new town begun in 1990. Lake Park's developers
planned a complete village that would provide a town center with
shops, a school, a church, a community center and a variety of
home styles, sizes, and price ranges. The neatly landscaped central
parkway, pool, tennis courts, community playgrounds, common areas,
nature trails and recreation facility make this a comfortable
place to live with real family appeal. The focal point of Lake
Park is its town center which includes a clock tower plaza and
the community center overlooking the village green. Old style
row houses and town houses of various price levels line the streets
while a church and private school anchor the other ends of the
town center.Social activities promote acquaintances and friendships
and there are many places for residents to gather connected by
pathways throughout the village. Homes in the community were built
ranging from the early 1990's to present day. Square footage varies
widely as 1,100 to 3,800SF homes can be found. Lake Park residents
enjoy lower tax rates and an alternative to Mecklenburg County
schools here in Union County.
As the community spreads outward from the town center, the housing
styles become less dense and more suburban in nature. Housing
of various sizes and prices are mixed throughout the neighborhoods.
Several areas are devoted to "reduced maintenance" homes
designed to appeal to older residents and a nursing home is available
within the town.
The community center offers swimming, tennis, summer sports
and fine arts classes. Social clubs and groups include a seniors
group and a teen club.
